"Dot's Home" is a captivating single-player, 2D video game that takes players on a meaningful journey through the life of a young Black woman in Detroit. Set in her grandmother's cherished home, the game offers a narrative-driven experience that transports players through time, allowing them to relive pivotal moments in her family's history. Throughout the game, players are confronted with difficult choices where race, place, and home intersect, shedding light on the challenging dynamics that shape our lives.

As an interactive experience, "Dot's Home" provides a unique opportunity for players to gain insight into the oppressive systems that influence our perceptions of race and place. By immersing players in scenarios where they must make decisions about their living circumstances amidst redlining, urban renewal, and gentrification, the game poses a fundamental question: "To what extent did our ancestors have agency in shaping their present circumstances?"

"Dot's Home" is an exceptional creation from the Rise-Home Stories project; a collaborative initiative uniting multimedia storytellers with advocates for housing and land justice. Over the course of three years, this project has reimagined the past, present, and future of our communities by reshaping the narratives we share about them.
